Fibroids

Fibroids are non-cancerous growths in the muscular wall of the womb. The exact cause of developing fibroids is unknown, however fibroids are a condition linked to the production of, or exposure to excess oestrogen (endogenous or environmental) in the body. This is otherwise known as “oestrogen dominance”.

The symptoms of fibroids include heavy bleeding, pain, amenorrhoea, clots and flooding, extended periods, frequent urination, constipation, backache and painful sex.

Your GP will refer you for a pelvic ultrasound to get a diagnosis of fibroids. The conventional treatment for fibroids includes medication, surgery or hysterectomy. However nutritional therapy can also play a role in the management of fibroids. London nutritionist Steve Hines has helped many women manage the symptoms of fibroids through nutritional therapy.
